The Star is Born Top

Gathered sleeve top in Atelier Brunnete Stardust double gauze
Despite my lack of blogging recently, I was lucky enough to be selected to be a guest blogger for the MaaiDesign fabric store blog! It is one of my favourite online fabric stores, so to say I am excited to be a contributor is an understatement. This top was my first project as a contributor, and the accompanying blog post has just gone up on the MaaiDesign blog.

The top is a hack of the Avid Seamstress Drop Sleeve Top pattern, to add the gathered sleeves, which I explain in more detail over at MaaiDesign. I used a pretty double gauze fabric by Atelier Brunette. This is the first time I've gone for the "statement sleeve" but I have to say I love how elegant and trendy it made me feel!

I finished the top with a self-covered button for the back opening. It was my first time making a self-covered button and I love how it turned out! I used a button kit I had found in an op-shop a while ago, but I believe you can find them in most sewing and haberdashery stores.

I have to say I'm delighted with how this top worked out! It's exactly what I was after, and I think it'll get a lot of wear this winter and into spring. If you are after a classic, stylish piece that's easy to wear, I highly recommend you pick up some double gauze in your favourite colour and make your own version!
